The Safe Conflict Project Presents at TEDx Vegas

In our line of work, people get pretty skeptical that they can contribute anything to ending a conflict. For those of us (most of us) who find keeping a roof over our head, food in our bellies and getting a certain amount of enjoyment out things along the way a pretty good challenge, I present for your use an idea.

Ideas have long been a far better tool of revolution than any stick, stone or rocket propelled grenade. Just take, for example, a few of our personal favorites:

  • Heliocentricity
  • Freedom of speech
  • Non Violence
  • Double stuffed Oreos (I'm only mildly joking)

In short, the simple spread of an idea, be it to your friend over coffee or to millions on a radio show, has immense power to cause widespread acceptance and, therefor, change.

On May 14th, Safe Conflict Project Founders Amber Lupton and Nathan Otto, along with 15 other visionary thinkers, will share their ideas with the world at TEDxSinCity. Watch live at http://www.tedxsincity.com/ as Amber and Nathan share how, through the use of emergent technology, we can harness and direct civic participation towards ending conflict.

TED, which simply stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, is devoted to "Ideas Worth Sharing." Starting out in 1984 as a simple conference to bring together new ideas, it has since grown to the leading forum for sharing inspiring innovations, ideas and stories. Check out TED's website for presentations on everything from an insiders perspective of Saturn to a Mathematicians Symphony to discussion on new visions of Foreign Policy. Here's just one example that we really like.
